Daryl graduated as part of the pioneer cohort from the Singapore Institute of Technology’s Degree with Honours in Physiotherapy programme and has since attained full registration with the Singapore’s Allied Health Professions Council.
Upon graduation, Darylstarted his career as a physiotherapist in the public health sector, where he honed both his clinical and soft skills towards being an effective clinician. While working in Sengkang General Hospital, Daryl has served patients across rotations through the Orthopaedic-Surgical, Musculoskeletal, and Cardiopulmonary team, as well as experiencing Emergency Department coverage during his time there.Hespent most of his time in the rehabilitation of patients who have undergone Total Knee Replacements (TKR), Total Hip Replacements (THR), Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR), and various Spinal/ Peripheral/ Vascular operations amongst others who may suffer from acute musculoskeletal and/ or chronic conditions.These experiences have equipped Daryl with the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills to treat a variety of conditions he may encounter through his journey as a physiotherapist.
Despite this, Daryl believes that learning never stops, and everyone is a teacher in their own right where there is always something to learn from the people he encounters;even patients/ clients. He appreciates two-way communication and partnering individuals on their rehabilitation journey – actively involving and empowering others through education and exercise to improve their lives and functions. Daryl is passionate about providing patient-centred care, one that is tailored towards achieving personal goals.
Outside of work, Daryl enjoys spending time with his family who remain a strong motivation to the work that he does. He regularly engages in a variety of sports and exercises with his peers whilst incorporatingroutine home workouts to keep active.
